HVAC Filters

HVAC filters placed in your ventilation system block airborne particulates, including dander, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, and viruses. You should use filters with a MERV rating between 8 and 13. The higher the rating, the more contaminants will be blocked.

Filters should be replaced every 30-90 days depending on usage, the number of household occupants and pets, and if you have allergies.

When your air filter isn’t regularly replaced, the trapped dirt and debris make it harder for air to pass through the filter. The airflow restriction makes your HVAC system work harder and longer, which can damage the components and increase your energy costs.
